Es ist in vielerlei Hinsicht einzigartig, nicht nur in der kroatischen, sondern auch in der europ\u00e4ischen Architektur: Es ist vollst\u00e4ndig aus Stein errichtet, ohne Verwendung anderer Materialien; es besticht durch seine k\u00fchne Konstruktion aus Steinplatten und Rippen, ganz ohne Bindemittel. Der Bau wurde 1431 von Francesco di Giacomo begonnen, 1536 von Niccol\u00f2 di Giovanni Fiorentino vollendet und von Georgius Mathei Dalmaticus, dem bedeutendsten K\u00fcnstler und Baumeister des 15.
